1.) Pure Comedy has a lineup!
We’re very excited for the One-Year Anniversary of Pure Comedy on October 11th. The show has become one of the most unique events in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area and attracts comics from all over the East Coast. This month we have Justin Schlegel from 98Rock anchoring a phenomenal line-up. This will not be an event you want to miss. Tickets are starting to move already! You can buy them here.
2.) I don’t actually have the racist tweets from an adorable Thai hippo
…But it’d be wild if I did, right? Moo Deng is an internet sensation. She is an icon, she is the moment. She’s a well-mosturized and famous baby pygmy hippopotamus at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo. When I say “the Thai hippo is famous.” I mean FAMOUS. She has inspired thousands of memes, a Sephora campaign, and was featured in Vogue. On Saturday Night Live, Bowen Yang played Moo Deng in a sketch parodying her with Chappell Roan.
The hippo has come out of nowhere to make millions of people happy, which can only mean one thing… it’s time for her to get canceled. Moo Deng is the chosen one, the “Milkshake Duck” the prophecy foretold…
I do not make the rules of the internet, I just notice them. Moo Deng has gotten too famous and too noticeable. I am excited for her to do a stand-up special about 4 years from now focused on why zookeepers are too woke.

It’s only appropriate to pair Charli XCX’s Album of the Summer with Moo Deng. If you haven’t heard this album yet, it’s because you’re not cool any more. Which is fine - I’m not cool either - but I am around cool people and I like cool people music. Charli XCX is one of the most influential pop artists of this generation and “Brat” is her magnum opus. She takes feelings of vulnerability and insecurity and pairs them with bone rattling synth stabs.
